Responding to comments on your business page
So, again, I'm speaking about being SOCIAL on SOCIAL media. Social media algorithms are set almost entirely around promoting social interaction (especially Facebook and Inta).
If you ran into someone in a shopping centre and they said hello and started a conversation with you, you wouldn't look at them, completely ignore them and walk away would you?
If you met someone at a BBQ that introduced themselves and tried to start a conversation, you wouldn't look at them, completely ignore them and walk away would you?
If you ARE the sort of person that would look at someone when they spoke to you, completely ignore them and then walk away, I would STRONGLY suggest that using social media to market your business is most likely not going to go well for you.
It's super important to respond to messages and respond to comments if you are wanting to utilise social media to market your business.
I hear some people say that they need down time and need to have time out from their business ... but 'nek minute' I see the same people posting one their own personal profile a photo of their dog upside-down on a trampoline or their kid jumping a pushy or their husband scoffing some sensational meal.
You are on socials, so it literally takes a second to throw a 'love' or a 'like' on a comment that is on your page. Go back later and respond to the comment if you really feel you can't be bothered at the time ... but at least show some acknowledgement to the person that CAN be bothered to interact with your business, in THEIR personal time.
Most importantly, responding will trigger the algorithms to recognise that this is a social interaction (like a conversation) and will show your post to more people! Uhmm ... remember I said that the algorithms are set almost entirely around promoting social interaction? Well WHAM BAM THANK YOU MAM ... responding to comments on your business posts, especially responding in a way that will encourage MORE conversation is WINNING!!
